The 76th Annual São Paio Festival is Almost Here!
We invite everyone in Naugatuck and our larger Portuguese-American community to dive into our traditions and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere filled with music, dance, and delicious food. Come discover what makes this one of the largest ongoing festivals in Naugatuck!
Friday, August 29th
- Opening Ceremonies (10:00 AM): At Naugatuck Town Hall, honoring Emilia DeCampos & Hilda Vaz as “Mayors of the Day.” Refreshments to follow at the Club.
- Festival Kickoff (6:00 PM): Food stands open, serving favorites like our Famous Roast Beef Sandwich, Grilled Chicken, Sardines, Eels, Cavacas, and Pastéis de Nata.
- Folklore Dancing (8:00 PM): A vibrant exhibition by “Recordacoes de Portugal” from Bridgeport, CT.
- Live Music (9:00 PM - 12:00 AM): Dance to the music by “DJ Danny C.”
Saturday, August 30th
São Paio 5K & Fun Run (8:00 AM): Registration opens at the Club. The race starts at 9:00 AM on Elm Street, with a raffle to follow.
- Food & Fun (12:00 PM): Food stands reopen for lunch.
- Kids Contest (5:00 PM): Don’t miss the adorable Children’s Traditional Portuguese Folkloric Wear Contest!
- An Evening of Dance (Starting at 6:00 PM): Enjoy back-to-back folkloric performances from “Rancho Folclórico Corações de Portugal” (Danbury, CT) at 6:00 PM and “Rancho Folclórico do Club de Hartford” at 7:00 PM.
- Live Music (9:00 PM - 12:00 AM): Get ready for an incredible performance by “BAND FAITH”!
Sunday, August 31st
- Community Mass (11:30 AM): Join us at Our Lady of Fatima Church (Baldwin St., Waterbury) to honor all members, past and present.
- Traditional Lunch (12:00 PM): ‘Almoço de dobrada’ (Tripe) will be served at the Casa Varina Restaurant inside the Portuguese Club.
